Our Commitment to Accuracy

At Penpoint News, accuracy and credibility are central to our responsibility as a news organization. We strive to publish information that is accurate, fair, clearly presented, and supported by reliable sources.

Journalism often involves developing stories, evolving circumstances, and information that may change as new facts become available. When we determine that published content contains a significant factual error, we are committed to correcting it promptly and transparently.

How We Handle Corrections

When Penpoint News becomes aware of a possible error, our editorial team may review the information, consult available sources, and determine whether a correction, clarification, update, or other editorial action is appropriate.

Depending on the circumstances, we may:

• Correct inaccurate facts, names, dates, locations, statistics, quotations, or other information.

• Add context or clarification when information could reasonably be misunderstood.

• Update developing stories when significant new information becomes available.

• Correct headlines, captions, photographs, graphics, or other supporting material.

• Add an editor’s note or correction notice when appropriate.

• Remove or replace content in exceptional circumstances.

Minor typographical, grammatical, formatting, or stylistic errors that do not materially change the meaning of a story may be corrected without a formal correction notice.

Corrections & Transparency

When a significant factual correction is made to a published article, Penpoint News may include a correction or editor’s note explaining what information was changed.

We believe corrections should clarify the record rather than conceal previous mistakes.

The nature and visibility of a correction will depend on the significance of the error and its potential impact on readers or individuals involved in the story.

Story Updates

News develops over time. Adding new information to an article does not necessarily mean the original reporting was incorrect.

For developing stories, Penpoint News may update articles as additional information becomes available. When appropriate, an article may display an updated publication time or include a note describing a significant update.

Clarifications

A clarification may be added when published information is factually accurate but additional context is necessary to prevent confusion or provide readers with a clearer understanding of the story.

Clarifications do not necessarily indicate that an error occurred.

Headlines, Photos & Captions

Our commitment to accuracy extends beyond the body of an article.

If we discover a material error in a headline, photograph, caption, graphic, video, social media post, or other content associated with a story, Penpoint News may correct or update that material as appropriate.

Social Media Corrections

Penpoint News distributes news and information across social media and other digital platforms.

If a significant factual error appears in a Penpoint News social media post, we may correct, update, delete, or replace the post depending on the capabilities of the platform and the nature of the error.

When appropriate, we may publish a follow-up correction or clarification.

Requests to Remove or Alter Published Content

Penpoint News does not ordinarily remove accurate, lawfully published news content solely because an individual or organization later disagrees with the coverage or would prefer that the information no longer be publicly available.

However, requests involving significant factual inaccuracies, privacy concerns, legal issues, safety concerns, or extraordinary circumstances may be reviewed by our editorial team on a case-by-case basis.

Any decision to substantially modify or remove published material remains within the editorial discretion of Penpoint News, subject to applicable law.
