Zachary, LA (PPN) – A single mother of four children is having a difficult time rebuilding her home from the historic flood in August 2016 and reached out for help on Facebook.
Once her high school friend Mindy Slaughter saw the Facebook post, she immediately responded and donated her own income to help.
Dosha Banguel, a former nurse, was forced to quit her job due to health issues and all of her children are living with their grandmother, two of them are in wheel chairs, according to WAFB.
In January, Dosha Banguel neighbor’s tree fell on her roof causing more damage and another setback.
The water came down hard through her roof, walls, and floors. Banguel is an insured home owner but the $1,000 check from the insurance company was hardly enough to cover the flood damage.
A volunteer repaired a hole in her roof and a local church provided sheetrock but Banguel needs help with installation.
“I want my home straight, and I want my kids back home,” Banguel told WAFB.
Banguel would greatly appreciate any help from the public after hitting a brick wall in her request for federal and state assistance.
