Work release inmate captured after car chase

Baton Rouge, LA (PPN) – Rickey Lake, 34, took West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on a car chase after he broke away from the work release facility after midnight last night. WBRSO Col. Richie Johnson reported that Lake was present for the head count at 10:00 p.m. and  by 12:30 a.m. he was gone.

Lake arranged the covers as if he was still in bed before escaping away. He was arrested on theft charges and is a garden trustee. Surveillance video showed Rickey jumping out of the window.

After a manhunt in the surrounding areas, police were able to locate him in a near by trailer park on Hwy 190 where he allegedly went to meet his girlfriend.

Lake jumped into his girlfriends car around 2 a.m. and took deputies on a car chase. He ditched the vehicle and ran into a wooded area in attempt to outrun the cops. By 10 a.m. he was caught near the RaceTrac gas station on Hwy 190.
