Pizza Hut invents limited edition of “Pie Top” shoes that orders for you

(PPN) – Pizza Hut introduced a new invention that will change the experience of ordering pizza forever. All basketball fans are geared up for March Madness and now there is something even more exciting to look forward to during the tournament.

The high-top sneakers “Pie Tops” can order pizza by the press of a button on the shoe’s tongue.  A Bluetooth device will sync up with the Pizza Hut mobile app and allow users to order a pre-selected pizza. Also, inside the sneaker is a geo-location technology that will help deliverymen find customers at any location.

The Pie Tops are white and red with their logo on the tongue and designed similar to Nike’s Air Force 1 high tops.

The sneakers will only be available during NCAA’s March Madness. There are only 64 pairs that were made and the bulk of them will go to the media and a select few Pizza Hut super-fans. The invention is to increase online ordering for the company after their last quarter sales dropped 4 percent.

Two years ago, Pizza Hut created a way to order pizza via Twitter and now via Alexa or Facebook Messenger.

Vice President of media and advertising for Yum Brands chain, David Daniels, said “This is one of those ideas that as soon as we saw it, we wanted to buy it. It hit everything we wanted to communicate in this window in a fun, really relevant way. And it was beautifully tied to the thematic of the tournament and the season.
