Northwestern makes NCAA tournament for the first time in school history




(PPN) – Northwestern University Wildcats are going dancing for the first time in school history.  They are ranked 5th in the Big Ten conference.

Th e team along with fans waited anxiously Sunday as CBS Greg Gumbel announced that NU was selected in the NCAA tournament.

Everyone went absolutely insane at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois.

Head Coach Chris Collins said, ‘‘It seemed really hot in that building for those 45 minutes.”

The Wildcats (23-11) will be seed No. 8 in the West region.

It has been a long 78 years but this special group of young men have done something that has never been done in this program.

They are the first team to debut as number eight or higher since 1988.

The Wildcats will play No. 9 seed Vanderbilt (19-15) Thursday in Salt Lake City at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
