Man opened fire on Vegas Strip bus for ‘no apparent reason’, 1 dead

Las Vegas (PPN) – Police reported that a man sitting at the back of a public bus on the Las Vegas Strip opened fire as passengers got off at a stop in the heart of a tourism corridor.

Rolando Cardenas, 55, surrendered peacefully after a standoff inside the double-decker bus that lasted more than four hours. He was booked on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, burglary, and opening fire on the bus.

Cardenas stood up and fired several shots from his handgun after the bus stopped on the Strip near the Cosmopolitan hotel-casino and passengers were leaving.

Gary Breitling, 57, of Sidney, Montana, was shot and killed before Cardenas barricaded himself in the vehicle. He died at the hospital.

Another victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both victims were seated in the back with the gunman.

A hotline has been setup seeking witnesses who fled the scene. The number of people on the bus is unknown.
