Hurricane season is here, pre-register for Louisiana DSNAP

Baton Rouge, LA (PPN) – June 1 marked the official day for the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services would like residents to pre-register online for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP).

Current SNAP, formerly called food stamps, recipients should not pre-register.

This does not apply to residents who have previously pre-registered before or has received DSNAP since August 2012. Families who have already registered can update any household or financial information that has changed by logging into their account on the DCFS website.

Click here to pre-register or visit and provide the following information:

  • Names, social security numbers and dates of birth for each household member.
  •  Current address and parish of household
  • Monthly income for each household member
  • All liquid resources for each household member (cash on hand, checking, savings account balances, certificates of deposit and money market balances)

Pre-registration does not guarantee benefits. The state of Louisiana will request federal government assistance for DSNAP only if FEMA declares the parishes are eligible for individual assistance.
