Cobb County announced that the veteran cop would be fired Thursday but the Lt. was one step ahead of the department.
Lt. Greg Abbott, a 27-year veteran, was on the verge of termination when he sent an e-mail Friday requesting immediate retirement. Abbott”would’ve still received retirement even if he was fired, ” Cobb County Public Safety Director Samuel Heaton told CNN Friday.
The white woman was afraid of putting her hands down because she’s seen so many black people killed by cops on camera. Abott asked the woman to get out of the car to impound it and she responded by saying, “I just don’t want to put my hands down.”
Police Chief Mike Register called the statements “inexcusable and inappropriate.” Abbott will not face any disciplinary action due to retiring.
