Council On Aging Tax Finally Passes

BATON ROUGE – The East Baton Rouge Metro Council has finally approved a property tax that will benefit the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging after several previous controversial meetings .

The 2016 tax which was passed by the voters is a 2.25 mill property tax for 10 years. The money that will be disperse to the COA will create an additional $7 million annually to operate the organization’s programs that will assist the elderly.

Programs that would benefit from the tax are programs such as Wellness programs, Meals on Wheels,  and personal care assistance programs.
