Convicted child rapist released to care for sick mother

Baton Rouge, La – A Baton Rouge judge granted release to a child rapist after the man was just convicted by a jury last week of aggravated rape.

Earl Coleman, 49, requested to be released on bond until sentencing to care for his sick mother. Judge Trudy White set the bond at $10,000 despite prosecutors asking for the bond to be set at $500,000.

Coleman was charged and convicted of raping an 8-year-old girl. He posted bond and now lives down the street from his victim.

According to WAFB, a clerk for Judge White said the judge would not comment on the case. Judges have legal authority to grant bond to anyone convicted of a crime.

Coleman will be electronically monitored by an ankle bracelet while he is out of jail.
