Baton Rouge Chief Of Police Carl Dabadie Jr resigns

BATON ROUGE, LA (PPN) –Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie will resign from his position.

East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, while campaigning vowed to put a new leader at the top of the police department.

Dabadie had been under criticism since the shooting of Alton Sterling.

Broome has been consistent in her beliefs that the police department needs fresh leadership.  Broome has been very vocal in her stance in replacing  Chief Dabadie, however, the chief’s position was protected by civil service laws that prevented the mayor from terminating the chief without proper cause.

Dabadie, a Baton Rouge native, graduated from Baker High School. He joined the Baton Rouge Police Department in 1985 as a second generation police officer just one year after his father, Lt. Carl Dabadie, Sr., was killed in the line of duty.
