San Diego, CA (PPN) – U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents caught a man attempting to smuggle drugs across the U.S. and Mexico border using a drone 2 feet tall.
Border patrol agents arrested an unidentified 25 year-old man on suspicion of using a drone to transport several pounds of methamphetamine after observing the drone flying over a border fence two miles west of San Ysidro Port of Entry at 11:25 p.m. on Aug. 8.
CBP officials notified other agents in the area and one agent found a male suspect 15 minutes later near the intersection of Valentio Street and Servano Avenue, according to reports.
The man had large open bags with meth wrapped in plastic packages. The drone was found nearby and used to carry 13 pounds of methamphetamine, a street value of approximately $46,000.
