Mayor Broome suspends all B.R.A.V.E contracts pending review

Baton Rouge, LA (PPN) – The Brave Area Violence Elimination program was rejected by the federal government last month to carry forward over a million dollars in grant money. Now, some of the contracts have been temporarily suspended.

Mayor Broome’s spokeswoman Janene Tate announced Tuesday “All BRAVE contracts have been suspended pending review.”

Contracts for art workshops, transportation, and sports will be affected as the Mayor’s office thoroughly review all contracts, projects, and funding.

“Any services delivered for payment are part of this review. Vendors are in the process of being notified.”

PPN Investigator Daniel Banguel discovered a new expenditure record for Healing Place church, one of the programs that was funded by B.R.A.V.E. under predecessor Kip Holden’s administration, showing it received $113,550.
