First Black Miss Kentucky USA arrested for smuggling marijuana

Allen County, OH (PPN) -The former Miss Kentucky USA who made history as the first African American to ever win the Kentucky beauty pageant in 2010 has been arrested and charged with one count of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility.

Ohio State Highway Patrol obtained a search warrant after listening to recorded jail phone calls between her and an inmate. The officers caught Kia Hampton, 28, smuggling marijuana for inmate Jeremy Kelly on May 26 when she pushed out a white balloon on the floor.

Hampton reached into her pants leg during police interrogation revealing 2.82 grams of marijuana.

A grand jury charged her on July 13 with a third-degree felony which carries a three-year prison sentence if she’s convicted.

It was not specified in reports if the two are dating.
